Ready Set Go Camp Sessions

Our team has designed three great in-person options for
campers and busy families to choose from this summer:

Get Ready: June 7 to June 28, Intro to Independence through non-visual skills and
confidence building.
Get Set: June 7 to July 19, Designed to help you plan your life after high school, this program offers additional experiences including
- College prep classes,
- Paid Work Experience.
- Attending the National Federation of the Blind National Convention.
Let’s Go: June 7 to August 2, Along with all the above experiences, This program is designed for graduating seniors and supports you in being ready for your first year of college. Experiences include:
- Academic skills support
- Signing up for classes,
- Exploring, practicing, and mastering various accommodation tools and options in a variety of class situations.
- Orientating, and preparing for classes at your specific college campus.

Another priority of this program is exposing students to local, national, and international organizations that support youth involvement. Each student will also have the opportunity to attend the National Federation of the Blind National Convention, which will be held in Austin, Texas. *(Only available for campers who participate in the 6 and 8 week camps)* This is a chance for each student to spend one week with more than 2,000 blind people from around the country. Students will be taking part in sessions learning about new technology, advocating individually and as a group, student resources are available and much more!

Ready Set Go: Make lifelong friends

Summer campers will get to play, work, and live in Tucson student
apartments alongside their peers. With our support, campers will
gain the confidence to prepare meals together, go on adventures,
and enjoy the freedom that comes from understanding their full
potential.

Ready Set Go: Live without limits!

Blind and low vision high school and college-bound students
deserve a future without limits. We believe in their full potential
and provide a supportive and encouraging environment in which
they will learn non-visual skills and gain the self-confidence
needed to achieve their dreams.

Using a white cane will result in the ability to go anywhere and do any type of work your
student can dream up. Whether your student is
considering a rural college or a busy urban environment in their future, our training approach will prepare them for success.

Your student will become well-rounded in their technology skills by learning things like Jaws, TalkBack, VoiceOver, and so much more.

Cooking and cleaning skills are key parts of the ability to live an independent and rewarding life. Non-visual skills that will aid in a student’s ability to care for themselves regardless of their visual acuity and will make them more capable of adjusting to life outside of the family home.

Reading and Writing Fluency through Braille is essential to keeping up with college-level academics, and is the greatest link to meaningful employment in the future.

Other activities include the opportunity to:
Make lifelong friends, rock climb, swim, zip-line, sing and dance, network with positive blind role models, attend sporting events, theater, and movies, and gain meaningful work and volunteer experience.

Saavi highly values the safety of each student and staff. We strive to provide a learning environment that promotes our mission while eliminating unnecessary health risks. To support a healthy and safe environment, Saavi Services for the blind models our practices off of the recommendations from the State of Arizona Department of Health Services, as well as the Center for Disease Control. We require that everyone on site to be up to date with vaccinations and to wear a mask at all times.
